Hospital is a place meant
for well-being and recuperation. While the term “Hospitality” refers to care, warmth,
healing and service to the body and mind, Religion in an even greater sense
renders care, warmth, healing and rejuvenation to the spirit and urges the
human being to journey towards realization.
Youth
for Dharma’s Hospital Visit program
is an effort to provide warmth and rejuvenation to the spirits of the ill and
the sick by invoking the divine and
instilling devotion. Just as it gives a ray of hope to relieve the pain
of the sick and suffering of their loved ones, it is also a process that cultivates
the spirits of those who serve them – in this case the volunteers of Youth for
Dharma.
One such motivating program was organized on
the 24th May, 2015 at Government Children’s Hospital, Egmore,
Chennai. Seven people participated in the program with full enthusiasm and
support.
The event was kicked off with a prep meeting
at Dharma Rakshana Samiti at 4 p.m. for the volunteers to describe the importance, mode of
approach, dos and don’ts of the event.
Our team reached
the Hospital at 4.30 p.m. We split ourselves into two teams, and visited the
maternity block of the hospital. We visited all the blocks except the intensive
care units.
We went to six
different wards, and around 200 people with their new born children
With courteous greetings, warm and
empathetic conversations with the patients and their caregivers we could
elevate the confidence for a faster recovery of the convalescent.
Also for every individual, Thai
Mokaambikai temple prasad, a portrait of Lord Murugan / Dhanvanthri Vinayaga
were offered.
With the blessings of Ishvara and the
participation and support of the members ensured that the program concluded
with great satisfaction and grace. It was altogether a wonderful experience in
seeing the new born children. The family members felt very happy and energetic,
when prasadams were offered to them and their new born kids. All of us, who
volunteered the event shared the wonderful experience that we had on that happy
evening!
